Male Carer Support

There are thought to be about 16,000 men ranging from quite a young age up to 70s and 80s caring for a loved one in West Wales. Its a challenging role and one that can isolate men from family and friends, affecting their wellbeing and mental health. The pandemic has made carers situation even harder.

men2men are developing tailored support programmes for male carers, to offer them respite activities, suited to their caring commitments. Some carers have joined our woodland projects. Others we have set up 1:1 sessions in CardiShed.

Sometimes we tailor support so that the carer can bring in their family member and work together on a joint project, like making a special sword. In time, the father or carer will begin to work with other men, whilst a volunteer continues to support the other family member. We have engaged three fathers with there sons like this, working together on a mutually agreed weekly project.

If you are a carer, or know one, needing some support please do contact us and we will arrange a time to visit to talk through what would support we can create for you.
